Prairie Valley Junior High Plays First Ever Football Game
The Prairie Valley Junior High Football Team and their entourage of fans traveled to Forestburg for their historic first football game.
Thursday night, the Prairie Valley Bulldog Junior High team traveled to Forestburg to take on the Longhorns in a historic game for the Bulldogs. While it has been 75 years since Prairie Valley has fielded a high school football team, it has never had a junior high team for football.
8th grader Landry Allan led the Bulldogs onto the field. From there, 8th grader Leevi Brown led the offense with two long touchdown runs. On defense, 8th graders Chisum Carpenter and Greyson Combs came up with several key tackles. 6th graders Dylan Mancilla and JJ Yeargin stepped up with valuable playing time. The score was 14-6 at the end of the 1st quarter when the game was called due to lightning.
While the Bulldogs lack experience, they make up for it with determination, drive, and relentless effort. Next Thursday, both the junior high and high school teams travel to Vernon Northside to take on the Indians. - Coach Cordero
