What an outstanding job each member attending the FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) State Conference performed. Their dedication and hard work paid off. In the competition of FCSA quizzes, Taylor Carter scored a perfect 100% earning a gold, also earning gold was Kelsey Perkins and Cece Mahin. Earning silver in this event was Molly Gilleland, Kelcy Oliver and Hailey Winkler. In the Star Event competition in, Entrepreneurship, Kendra Woods and Brooklynn Messer placed 5th out of 27 schools. And Kincaid Johnson, Lacey Eldred, and Samantha Tompkins placed first in their Star Event competition, Life Event Planning, against 21 other teams and advances them to the National Conference in San Diego. These girls get two thumbs up and a job well done for their performances against schools ranging in size from 1A to 6A schools.
Congratulations to the Prairie Valley FCCLA for doing an outstanding job in each member’s competition at the Regional FCCLA Conference in Waco. In Star Event Competition, the most strenuous and competitive events, Kendra Woods and Brooklynn Messer earned 4th place in Entrepreneurship Sr., which advances them to state. Kincaid Johnson, Lacey Eldred, and Samantha Tompkins placed 1st in Life Event Planning Jr., and also advance to state. In Family Consumer Science Quiz competition Molly Gilleland, Shelby Roof and Emily Barfield earned silver and Alexis Bennett, Jordan Gaston, Kelsey Perkins, Hailey Winkler, Cece Mahin earned a gold as did Taylor Carter with a perfect 100%. These girls are shining stars and have excelled in their competitions. For most of these competitors they will be attending the state conference in Dallas on April 7-9. Prairie Valley FCCLA won first place out of all 1A schools for the Service Learning Project raising breakfast items for a local food pantry in Waco. Once again congratulations to them all for their hard work and commitment.
Over the summer Kincaid Johnson, Lacie Eldred, and Samantha Tompkins, from Prairie Valley High School, earned a silver medal in their Star Event competition in Sports Nutrition at the FCCLA National Conference in Washington D.C. Congratulations to their team effort and hard work to come home with a silver.
