Prairie Valley Rodeo Team Looking for Competitors

Prairie Valley is excited to announce the creation of the Prairie Valley Rodeo Team. Leading the team with all pertinent information is Mrs. Cindy McCracken.

The Prairie Valley Rodeo Team will have the opportunity to compete in the Texas High School Rodeo Association (THSRA) in a very competitive Region III in Graham. They will have a chance to qualify for THSRA Texas State Finals and move on to the National High School Rodeo Finals.  Texas High School Rodeo Association is a part of the National High School Rodeo Association. Memberships open July 1 and the first weekend of rodeo is September 9-10. The complete schedule can be found at:  THSRA Re gion 3 website. THSRA rodeos are full complete rodeos with all events.

In addition to THSRA, rodeo athletes will have the option of competing in the North Texas High School Rodeo Association in Saginaw. Competitors are required to compete in at least 50% of the rodeos at North Texas High School Rodeo. Memberships open July 1 with the kickoff rodeo being August 26. A complete schedule can be found at North Texas High School Rodeo Association's website. Events at NTHSRA include
Boy Events: Bareback Riding, Bull Riding, Calf Roping, Chute Dogging, Saddle Bronc and Steer Wrestling.
Girl Events: Breakaway Roping, Barrel Racing, Walk-Up Goat Tying, Goat Tying, and Pole Bending.
Boy and Girl Events: Ribbon Roping, Team Roping- Heading, and Team Roping- Heeling
Don't have a horse but want to give the rodeo team a try? Chute dogging and Walk-up goat tying do not require you to have your own horse as well as the rough stock events.

Both associations also have a Rodeo Queen/Royalty Contest.

If you would like more information about what it takes to join the rodeo team, contact Cindy McCracken by phone 940-841-2275 or by email shcjmc82@gmail.com.
