Radios, CD Players, Cell Phones, and Other Electronic Devices and Games
Students are not permitted to possess such items as pagers, radios, CD players, tape recorders, camcorders, DVD players, cameras, electronic devices or games unless prior permission has been obtained from the principal. Without such permission, teachers will collect the items and turn them in to the principal’s office. The principal will determine whether to return the items at the end of the day for students to take home or whether parents will be contacted to pick up the items. Students are not to have cell phones in the school building during the school day.
Consequences/Exceptions
Cell phones will be taken up for the 1st offense and returned to a parent at the end of the day. Subsequent violations will result in a $15 fine and the phone will be returned to the parent when the fine is paid. Any further disciplinary action will be in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. If a student is leaving for a school sponsored trip and needs to use their phone/electronic device they must give it to their coach or teacher at the beginning of the day. Once the kids have left for the contest they will be given their phones/electronic device. For certain items, such as pagers, in which a third party retains a legal right of ownership, the school may charge for releasing the pager to the third party. [See policy FNCE.]
Dress and Grooming
The district
prohibits any clothing or grooming that in the judgment of the
administration may reasonably be expected to cause disruption or
interference with normal school operations. Students are not
allowed to wear pants or shorts with holes or frays even if holes
or frays have clothing underneath. Boy’s shirts must have
sleeves.
Caps, hats, hoods on sweatshirts, or bonnets are not to be worn
inside the building by any student, male or female.
Consequences
If the
administration or staff determines that a student’s grooming
violates the dress code, the student shall be given an opportunity
to correct the problem at school. If not corrected, the student
shall be assigned to detention or in school suspension for the
remainder of the day or until parents or designee brings an
acceptable change of clothing to the school. Repeated violations
may result in more serious disciplinary action.
The principal, in cooperation with the sponsor, coach, or person in
charge of an extra-curricular activity, may regulate the dress and
grooming of students who participate in the activity. Students who
violate these standards may be removed or excluded from the
activity for a period determined by the principal or sponsor, and
the student may be subject to further disciplinary action.
